Public reading of Revelation helps crowd interact with Scripture like ancient church did.
On Saturday, November 5th, 2016, at the historic St. John AME Church, located at 708 15th Street North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203, beginning at 1:30pm Birmingham-based audio Bible ministry Your Working Copy, Inc, will provide a unique interactive Bible reading event – The Nehemiah (812) Project - where all are welcome to come and read along as the Book of Revelation (King James Version) is read publically.
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”
Revelation 1:3 (KJV)
The entire Book of Revelation will be read by Believers young and old; elementary school students to seasoned pastors with doctors of divinity. The environment will be welcoming and reverent.
The name of the program – The Nehemiah (812) Project – comes from the eighth chapter of the book of Nehemiah. The first twelve verses of the passage describe how the Israelites, during the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem, gathered to hear the Word of God. This reading will look like similar readings in biblical days except that in the days when Ezra the Scribe read before the people, those gathered did not have Bibles as we have today.
Susan Bates of Your Working Copy, Inc., is the project’s primary narrator. Bates has been engaged in recording the Bible “one book at a time” for the past 13 years. She explains, "I believe that Your Working Copy and The Nehemiah [812] Project are so important to us today because it is no longer enough to attend church, read a daily devotional, and engage in light Bible study." She says The Nehemiah [812] Project seeks to revive an interest in the Bible such as in biblical times, through reading single books of the Bible in the local assembly. "I envision that, in years to come, Bible readings in the local assembly will become a routine part of church programs. The project is an idea whose time has come … again."
The Nehemiah (812) Project will be presented at the historic St. John AME Church, located at 708 15th Street North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203, beginning at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016. The entire event will also be livestreamed via facebook.com/YourWorkingCopy.
