Session
The Session, which is the governing body of the congregation, is made up of twenty-two elders (the translation of the Greek word presbyteros). The Session is responsible for the whole life and ministry of New Providence Presbyterian Church. Elders serve three-year terms, and collectively provide the long term vision that enables New Providence to worship, grow, love, serve and equip the saints for the work of ministry.
Particular responsibilities include receiving new members; leading the congregation in mission; providing for worship and the administration of the sacraments—baptism and communion—offering educational programs, pastoral care, and fellowship opportunities; overseeing the annual budget; and challenging the congregation in its stewardship of time, talent, and financial resources.
Five ministry teams, corresponding to each of the goals of our mission statement, oversee these responsibilities and report to the Session.
