Elementary Tutoring

El Buen Pastor's Elementary Tutoring Program helps Latino children succeed in elementary school by providing daily assistance with homework assignments, helping children master basic skills,  providing enrichment activities, and encouraging parents to be involved in their children’s education. By helping children succeed in elementary school we set them on a path toward high school graduation, providing them and their families with hope for a positive future in our community. Currently, 60 children in kindergarten through fifth grade from Spanish-speaking homes participate in the program.

• must attend an orientation session before beginning to serve and are required to sign a Volunteer Policy Agreement Statement and a Confidentiality Statement
• must complete the WS/FCS Volunteer background check process and email your clearance to El Buen Pastor's volunteer coordinator (if you completed this last year, you will need to resubmit your information)
• volunteers are asked to commit to tutoring 2 days a week from one hour during the school year (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, if possible)
• student volunteers must be in the 11^th grade to serve without a parent
• students in grades 6 through 10 may volunteer if accompanied by a parent or other adult who will also tutor
