Welcome
Since 1974 the Walkersville United Methodist Church has offered this day program as a service to young children in the community. A non-profit program approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, WUMC Weekday School operates September through May, following the public school calendar for Spring Break and bad weather closings. Please view our calendar for all other school closings and conferences.
Purpose
Walkersville United Methodist Church and WUMC Weekday School believe that every child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically to their highest potential in a loving environment.
WUMC Weekday School is a developmental program concerned with the whole child and respecting each child as an individual with special abilities and needs. We believe that children learn best through experiences offered in a caring, accepting, safe, and consistent setting. We offer children an opportunity to experience a small peer group situation, to respond to adults and children outside the family, to express themselves through experimenting with a variety of art media, to practice skills in following a routine, to develop large and small muscles through age-appropriate activities, to increase language and social development, to achieve a greater level of self-reliance and self-confidence, and to have fun while learning.
