Exciting Times!

Many of you have been keeping up with the ongoing works in K-Town and G-Village.  It has been an exciting month here as the work has begun. It has been a time of refining for me as I have learning the truth that I cannot do this on my own.  I must be fully surrendered to Him every day.

I wanted to share a story with you about how God is working and drawing people in K-Town.

Over the past two weekends, we have had a group of young adults go out four different times to faithfully share in this neighborhood.  Over 60 people have heard the Good News.  It has amazing to see this group so excited to get out there and share.  As we were headed out last Friday, we ran into traffic in town.  At first, it was just a little traffic jam, and then we came to a standstill.  We sat in that traffic for over 2 hours.  Our time that we were going to get to spend in K-Town was disappearing.  I thought about turning around and telling the team that we would go another day, but I felt the Lord whisper to me to keep going.

We finally made it through the traffic and got to K-Town almost 3 hours late.  When we arrived, I began to explain the program for the day and encourage the group before we split into teams.  As I spoke confused looks were on every face.  They admitted to me that they didn’t understand me clearly.  I tried to speak again, but my language was not coming out.  Some days this just happens.  The language is just hard and you feel like you’ll never be able to speak it.  I could feel the frustration welling up inside of me.  My friend quickly explained the plan, as I had talked about it with her that morning.  We split into teams and went to share the Good News.

As my team came up to the first house, I did not want to be there.  I had so many thoughts in my head:  Why am I leading this?  I can’t even speak.  It wasn’t even worth it to come today.  We only have about one and a half hours to share.  Why are we even doing this?

I threw this pity party as we visited the first two houses.  I didn’t say anything and didn’t really listen to the conversations.  As we began our conversations at the third house, I began to listen.  Incredible questions were being asked.  The team was proclaiming the Good News right in front of me and I was missing it all.  I immediately started praying for the team and for the hearts of those that were hearing the Good News.  I was missing the work that God was doing, and you know what it was happening in spite of me.

As we met up with the other half of the team after sharing, they were so excited.  They shared with us how they got to have so many conversations and people were truly interested in J3sus.  My heart overflowed with gladness and I asked for forgiveness.

Somewhere along the way, I got it in my head that the success of this project depended on my language and my leadership.  That is a lie!  This work does not depend on me.  I cannot change hearts, only the Father can.  Sometimes things don’t go as we planned. It’s okay. The father can work through that. We must submit to his leadership and where He is leading.  He is already working in K-Town and we must ask where we can join Him.
