Sunday Morning

Sunday School

Beginning in September of each year, exciting inter-active lessons are taught using an age-graded curriculum that follows the lectionary.  Children discover the adventure of applying God’s truth to everyday life by doing fun, surprising activities.

8:45 – 8:55 a.m. Parents bring their children to classrooms and sign them in with the teachers in the following locations:

·            Babies and toddlers -  Room 2

·            Pre-kindergarten children - Room 3

·            Kindergarten and first graders - Room 14

·            Second and third graders - Room 12

·            Fourth and fifth graders - Room 11

Note:  In the summer, kindergarten through fifth graders meet together.

9:50 a.m. All except babies and toddlers come with their teachers to the sanctuary for closing worship.

Close of Worship Service: Parents sign out babies through pre-kindergarten children in classrooms.  All others are signed out in the sanctuary.  Children whose parents attend the Spanish language worship service in the Wesley Room (Room 5) will be accompanied by a teacher to that room to meet their parents.

Family Connect

Parents are important members of the Christian Education team.  They are encouraged to nurture the spiritual growth of their children. To help equip them in this endeavor, parents, grandparents and other child care givers are invited to attend “Family Connect” Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11 a.m. in Room 4. You’ll find out what your child is learning in Sunday school while you connect with other parents & caregivers. You’ll learn how to nurture the excitement of learning about & connecting with God during the week by weaving Christian faith into your family life using parenting techniques and take-home pages with easy discussion starters. Since all classes study the same Bible passage in age-appropriate ways, it’s easy for everyone in the family to share.  Nursery care and adult playground supervision is available during this time.

Resource for Parents

“At Home with the Good News”, published by Morehouse Education Resources, is a 1-page, 2-sided resource which contains activities and readings that parents can use at home to reinforce what their children learned in Sunday School.  CLICK HERE to access the latest copy of this helpful resource.

Student and Special Sundays

On November 29, 2015 and February 14, May 15, June 26, and August 28, 2016 all students, pre-kindergarten through Senior High, will take active roles in the 9 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary and remain there for the entire service.  Children remain in some other worship services also: March 20 (Palm Sunday), March 27 (Easter), and May 15, 2016 (Pentecost).  Children also take an active role in one of the Christmas Eve worship services.

Family Faith on Fire Workshops

A “Family Faith on Fire” workshop is held on Student Sundays from 10:15 to 11 a.m.  The objective of "Family Faith on Fire" is to equip and empower families to make their faith real.  Each workshop provides hands-on training to help parents teach their children to become disciples of Christ through activities all members of the family can participate in and continue at home.
