Student Ministry

The Student Ministry at Evangel ("The Refuge") consists of youth ages 6th through 12th grade. We meet every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 in an effort to experience God for who He is and what He has done. The Refuge takes its name from Psalm 62:7, "My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge." 

On Sunday, we attend the worship service together and on Wednesday's, we meet together for fun games, student led worship, a lesson from God's word, and small group discussions. 

Throughout the year, we have spring and fall retreats, a Christmas party, and then when school is out for the summer, we have a ten-week summer program with opportunities and activities for everyone. The students participate in and help lead VBS, go to an amazing one week summer camp, serve in the inner city of Memphis by making and handing out meals to the homeless, meet for Bible Study, picnic and play at Shelby Farms, and occasionally take short-term mission trips. The summer is an opportunity to experience God together in a more in depth and intimate way.  Backyard Bible Clubs or taking VBS to another community in Memphis allows our students to actually have the opportunity to teach what they’ve learned throughout the year in many different venues in our church and community. Our hope and prayer is for students to not just learn from God's word, but to be able to reproduce it in their schools, homes, and communities.
