About BBA: Our story...

History

Birmingham Baptist Association is a voluntary, cooperative effort of some 128 local churches, working together to create missions services and opportunities that can go beyond our individual efforts. We are on mission to build the Kingdom of God across metro Birmingham and beyond.

The mission of carrying the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout our community is as important today as it was when 10 local churches first gathered in 1833 as the Canaan Association of United Baptists.

Those first churches came together from Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, and Tuscaloosa counties. Many of our current churches began through mission work of BBA. Our united efforts have helped create and support ministry agencies such as Baptist Health System,  Metro Changers,  and The Center at Central Park.

Opportunity

BBA provides year-round opportunities for church members live a Christian witness to their neighbors through block parties and outreach, to those in need through feeding and housing, and to the ends of the earth through missions trips and disaster relief work.

The Association brings churches together in numerous short-term and long-term volunteer projects as well as providing shared resources for each church: training for lay ministers, leadership development for church staff, and consultation on church issues.

Member churches can receive support through leadership training, legal and financial consultation, our educational resources library, and planning of group events.

Let’s celebrate our history while looking to our future with excitement as we watch how God works through our local association of churches.
