Services for the poor & multicultural communities

The Ministry Center at Green Springs, founded and led by several BBA churches, is a Christian nonprofit 501(c)3 that reaches out to those in need and to Birmingham’s multicultural community. We offer aid to ease the effects of poverty by seeking to address the human, social, and spiritual needs of people. Within close proximity of the Center many languages and cultures are represented. We offer a place for ethnic churches to meet and we offer programs to help immigrants and refugees become active members of their communities. We seek to embody the servant model of ministry by reaching out to people in love.

Ministries: Food and emergency services—food pantry (Wednesdays), referrals for clothing/furniture, case management, Share the Joy of Christmas Party. Multicultural ministries—facilities and assistance for ethnic churches and communities, English as a Second Language clasess (Mondays), outreach Bible studies. Other services—financial education and financial advice, counseling.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Assist families in the distribution of food
Pick up food at the food bank for The Center
Provide Christmas gifts for children
Provide refreshments for ESL Monday nights
Provide childcare or backup care for babies through age 3 on Monday nights for ESL families
Assist in an ESL class
Become a trained volunteer to teach ESL
Teach parenting classes and advise clients on financial matters
Paint or provide other building improvements
Remodel the nursery area

MATERIAL NEEDS:

Food: nonperishable staple items, personal items, paper products and cleaning supplies
Clothing donations to Goodwill designated for The Ministry Center at Green Springs
Monetary donations for food purchases, ESL student books and Bibles, automatic ice maker, color printer; new roof for education building
