Wayne Rickard

Rev. Wayne Rickard, Minister of Music

I am a native of Kansas City, Missouri, and have served as Associate Pastor with responsibilities in Music Ministry at Zion since 1995.  My wonderful wife, Jo, is the Choral Director at Ola High School in Henry County.  I have two great adult children, Brian and Barry and we have two dogs, Teddy and Dolly.  I am a graduate of William Jewell College in Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education.  I am certified to teach in the public school system K-12 in the areas of Vocal and Instrumental Music.  At Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, I received my Master of Church Music Degree.

God called me into the Gospel Ministry when I was eighteen years old.  I have served churches in Missouri, Texas (Ordained in 1982), and Georgia.  My main ministry objective is to share Christ through the Word and through song, and to teach others how to use their talents to do the same.  Worship is forefront on my agenda.  Each week much attention and time is used to focus on providing blended worship (hymns and choruses) experiences that involve the congregation with the sole purpose of glorifying and worshiping God.  We need to "connect with God" - not just be entertained.  Everything we do needs to be done for the Audience of One.

I am also involved with people in the community.  For five years I served as a volunteer Chaplain at Rockdale Hospital.  I served on committees for the Henry County School Board and was the Co-President for the Band Booster Organization at Stockbridge High School.  Currently, I am the Music Director the Stone Mountain Baptist Association and I am a member of the Georgia Baptist Convention's Men Chorus, The Sons of Jubal.

I enjoy fishing, golf, and bowling when time allows and I am a Georgia Bulldog fan.
