C.O.O.L. Ministry

In 2002 Barbara started crocheting baby blankets for Baptist Hospital after hearing
there was a need for them. The blankets were for preemie babies who passed
away to have something special to be buried in. When Jeannie joined BH she found
out what Barbara was doing and wanted to get involved, too. At this time we did
not have a name. We were just two ladies crocheting, enjoying what we were were
doing and being blessed by the Lord. A few years later Paula shared with us the idea
of making prayer shawls for people who were having a hard time, were sick or just
needed a hug from the Lord. We decided we would start making prayer shawls,
but we knew we could not do it all on our own. We were led to start a class for
anyone who would like to learn to crochet or who already crocheted and would like
to join us in this ministry. That is how the COOL Ministry began back in 2005.
"C.O.O.L.", which  stands for “Crocheting out of Love", truly is a ministry of love.
We have 7 active members and some very important people "we could not do this
without" behind the scenes. Thank you to all of you! We also appreciate your prayers.

We meet the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 am at the church. Bring a crochet
hook, some yarn and join us for a time of crocheting, fun and fellowship. All we do is
done for the glory of God. We desire to share His love with others through the work
of our hands and yarn. We thank Him for 8 years of ministry and look forward to
all the wonderful things He has for us in the years ahead.

Each month Barbara, Mildred, and Mary, take the crocheted preemie baby sets to
St. Thomas Mid-town Hospital. We have many sweet baby blankets sets ready to be
delivered. Activity books, crayons, diapers, shampoo, magazines, cards, puzzles, and
Bibles, collected by WMU ladies will also be taken. There is always a need for coloring
books and crayons for the children at the hospital. Can tabs from soda and soup
cans are also being collected by the WMU for Ronald McDonald House. There is a box
provided for ths at Church. Join us in making a difference and being a blessing in
the lives of others.

We are making prayer shawls for patients at St. Thomas Mid-Town. So far
five have been taken and ten more have been made.

We also have a prayer ministry for expectant mothers and their babies, and other
little ones who have special needs. Right now we have several moms-to-be on our list.

This began during Lent but is a great discipline for the rest of the year (1)
Give 15 minutes each day to sit in silence before the Lord. (2) Give 15 minutes
each day to study your Bible. (3) Give 15 minutes each day to serve someone.
In considering all Jesus has done and does for us each day, that is not asking
too much at all.

Here is Jean's recipe for the Pumpkin Muffins. You might like to try it for a sweet
treat.

Take one Spice cake mix and add to it one 15 oz. can of plain pumpkin. Mix this
together by hand and place in muffin tins. Mixture is stiff.  Raisins, nuts or extra
cinnamon can be added. Drop by teaspoon for mini muffins. Bake at 350º. For mini
muffins check after 8 minutes. For larger muffins, check after 15 minutes or so.
Bake until toothpick comes out clean. Serve plain or with cream cheese icing. Enjoy!

Also, Kathy shared this 3-2-1 Cake recipe with us at the June meeting.

Buy any 2 cake mixes. One of them MUST be an angel food cake mix. The other may
be any flavor you choose.

Mix them together well in large Ziploc bag.

Put 3 Tablespoons of the mixture in a small cereal bowl or maybe even a ramekin.
Add 2 Tablespoons of water. Stir well.
Put in microwave for 1 minute.

Voila!! You have your own personal size mini cake.  Enjoy with your favorite
toppings!

We are also collecting yarn for the Women's Prison Ministry. Bring your yarn to
our next meeting.

Don't forget to keep memorizing your Scripture verse each month. The wirebound
index card holder is very helpful and a good way to keep up with the verses you are
learning. It is so important to equip ourselves with the Word of God and to hide His
Word in our heart, speaking it our loud when we need to. I also encourage you to
commit to reading God's Word everyday. We are on a fresh, real, nonstop adventure
with God that you don't want to miss!!

For a wonderful devotional book it will be hard to find one better than
Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. Anther book I highly recommend is Joni & Ken:
An Untold Love Story written by by Ken & Joni Earkerson Tada. It is truly an
amazing story of God's faithfulness, plan and love. There are lots of other inspiring
books and family dvds in the Brook Hollow Library available for check out.

 ************************************************************************
Looking back over the year 2012, the COOL Ministry made and gave 10 prayer shawls
and 32 or so baby blanket sets; countless baby hats for the Hospita and hats
for the Room In The Inn men. We sent 25 hats for the Ky. Mission Christmas trip
and 13 baby caps. For the Special Olympics Athletics from Tn. we made 31
navy and red scarves. We have prayed for many expecting Moms and their babies
and sick little ones, big and small. We have prayed for and shared with each other
our own needs and concerns for those we love. God has faithfully come through time
and time again. He is with us and has everything under control. We can and do depend
upon Him. Thank You, God! We give You all the honor, thanks, glory and praise!

The ABC's Of Salvation ---"Examine yourself in the light of God's holiness".

Admit to God you are a sinner. Confess your sins to God. Repent, turning away from
your sin. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Romans 6.23, Acts 3.19, 1 John 1.9

Believe that JESUS is God’s Son and the only way for salvation. Accept His gift of
forgiveness from sin. Surrender your heart to Him.
John 3:16-18, John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:8; Eph. 2:8-9; John 1:11-13

Confess your faith in JESUS Christ as your Savior and Lord. Romans 10:9-10, 13

Receive Jesus by faith into your heart. This is the best decision you will ever make!

Then start reading the Bible everyday and choose to obey what it says. Get in
a Bible believing, Christ-centered Church. Begin to grow in the Lord by spending time
with Him daily and becoming a faithful witness to others who need Him, too. Be faithful
to pray. Enjoy your life. Be grateful for all you have. Make a decision to let Christ be
#1 in your heart always. Be open to the Holy Spirit's leading in your life daily.

Always GOOD NEWS! "Always be joyful. Never stop praying". 1 Thess. 5: 16-17.

"Today is God's gift to you, how you use it is your gift to God."

"My highest calling in this life is my relationship with God."

Before the threshold of my day:

"I've much to do today, Dear Lord,
But let me kneel a bit
Before the threshold of my day
               That I may enter it
              With mind serene and
                Heart made fresh
              With fragrant heavenly dew.
That every moment of the day
               'll be reflecting You".
