Pastor's Letter

Brook Hollow Family,

It was a somewhat routine Tuesday evening at our home. I was doing some simple jobs around the house and the TV was on for background noise with “ America ’s Got Talent” in full swing. I was staying on task until each contestant would perform their unique talent. As they were introduced, I would drop what I was doing and watch them perform. Early into the show, it was interrupted with an alert. Like most people, when an alert happens, I responded with a very sarcastic…“Great!” But this time was different. It was an Amber Alert for a missing boy from Spring Hill. I sat and stared at the simple black and white script on the TV detailing the situation. The warning was spoken with an urgent computerized voice. In the flash that the TV transitioned from variety show to Amber Alert, priorities changed. I sat on the couch and prayed for the little boy, his family, and a happy ending. In fact, I soon turned off the TV. I was no longer interested in discovering who had talent.

In the blink of an eye…lives and priorities can change. In the blink of an eye…we discover what is really important. Friends, let us pray and search the scripture to learn what should be most important to us. Then let us simply trust God with the priorities of our lives.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1.9

Blessings,
Pastor Tom
