Summary

With one word, the Apostle Paul focuses our attention on a very important teaching about faith in the promises of God. The word (in many English translations) is "therefore" in verse 22. Paul uses several verses to describe the nature of Abraham's faith (v17-21). And then Paul says that this (true) faith is the reason that Abraham was justified. Simple assent to the Gospel promises is not enough. An enduring abandonment to God's promises is the faith that justifies us before God. That is the faith that saves.
