Butch holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of North Alabama and a Masters of Religious Education from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His area of responsibility includes, among other areas, Medical Apartments Ministry, Remedy Ministry, and Metro Changers, an Urban Housing Rehab ministry, where he is Executive Director.

He served First Baptist Church, Athens, AL as Minister of Students and Recreation, First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, AL as Minister of Students and Recreation, First Baptist Church, Dothan, AL as Minister of Students and First Baptist Church of Birmingham, AL as Minister of Education. Butch also served as an Associate in the Student Volunteer Mobilization Unit of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (World Changers).
