The twelfth lesson in a study of the epistle to the Hebrews focuses on the metaphor of a great high priest. Texas Politics The author of the epistle draws heavily on the Old Testament concept of a high priest, who was appointed to mediate between the people and their God. The author of Hebrews states that Jesus is the appointed High Priest and he is superior to the Aaronic priesthood of the Old Testament.
