In a culture of continuous noise, the voice of God is all too easily drowned out. So if we long to communion with God, if we desire to listen to His voice, and if we are committed to keeping in step with His Spirit, we need times of silence and solitude to quiet our souls that we can hear His still, small voice. But how do we do that? Join us as we talk about one last spiritual rhythm!

When people ask you how you are doing, what’s your “go-to” reply? I tend to respond, “I’m doing fine, but I’m just busy.” Unfortunately, that response comes out of my mouth without me even thinking much about it. But it’s not because it is untrue, but rather because it is perennially true! The solution to our busyness is as varied and as personal as the causes for our busyness. There are many factors and issues that contribute to each of our busy lives. However, there is a spiritual discipline that God has given all of us to counter that busyness. It is the weekly discipline of the Sabbath rest. But what was God’s original intent for the Sabbath? Is it still morally binding on us today? If not, then does it apply at all to us? And if so, how?

Many people are still making New Year's resolutions. Some have wondered about including some spiritual disciplines to help them walk with God this year. So if there were only one personal spiritual discipline that I could recommend everyone to establish this year, what would that discipline be?

Rhythms and routines. We all have them. Whether it be our morning routine when we get up, our nightly routine when we go to bed, and/or our meal routine during the day—we all have certain rhythms that we tend to keep throughout the day or week. But what if there were certain spiritual rhythms that could help us keep in step with the Spirit? What if there were things we could do daily, weekly, monthly, and annually that could help us join with God in seeing our lives transformed? Join us as we begin a new message series, “Spiritual Rhythms.”

Can you believe that Christmas is less than one week away? Perhaps for some of us, it still doesn't feel like Christmas because the pandemic has stolen so much of our holiday traditions. And yet God would say we still have everything to look forward to in this Christmas season. How so? Join us for part 3 of our 4 part series "The Hope of Christmas"!

I’m a sap when it comes to Christmas music. One of my favorite CDs is an Amy Grant Christmas album. I don’t know why, but I enjoy some of the more melancholy tunes—like “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Maybe it taps into the melancholy side of my personality. But when I think about it, many of those tunes are full of longing—longing for a better future, for a better life. But the world’s basis for that hope is really hope in hope. Even in some of the more positive, secular Christmas tunes like “A Christmas to Remember,” the hope of Christmas seems to center around the traditions of this season—the lights, the sounds, time with friends and family. But those secular tunes are in stark contrast to Christian Christmas music and carols. As believers, we have a hope that is certain because our hope is anchored in Christ and His faithfulness to fulfill His promises. But what are those promises that give us lasting hope?
