Current Missions Outreach

Not Bread Alone Volunteers Needed
Wesley Church continues to help in the kitchen and provide a service crew for the Amherst Community Meal Project, Not Bread Alone, one Saturday each month.  This meal is served at the First Congregational Church in Amherst.  Cooking, serving, eating with the families, and clean-up are all part of this service opportunity.  Typically, Wesley is scheduled for the 4th Saturday of the month, from 9:30 am until 2 pm.  Wesley's next date of service is December 28.  At least eight people are needed.  The need is particularly great in the summer months, when college students are not volunteering.  Those who can work only a two hour shift are welcome.  Please contact Bonnie Wroblewski for more information by email or at 413.247.9294.

Women's Correctional Center Ministry
The United Methodist Churches of the Connecticut/Western Massachusetts District are being given the opportunity to provide worship for the women at the correctional facility in Chicopee.   Each volunteer needs to complete an application form, grant permission for a CORI check, and participate in an orientation session at the facility.  There will be a Chicopee Women's Prison orientation and training soon for anyone who cares to join Pastor Ron as a new ministry team member.  Wesley Church offers worship at the prison about once every two months, for an hour on a Sunday afternoon.  For those participating, it is a moving and rich spiritual experience of exchange between the imprisoned women and the ministry team.  If you would like to attend the training, please contact Pastor Ron at the church or Louise Minks by email or at 413/ 367-2800.
