Music Ministry

 

We will begin our Children’s music activities at the gathering on September 11^th where all children can experience the music programs that we have to offer here at Trinity.  We will be meeting in half-hour segments to let everyone know what each group has to offer.  Please see additional information in the newsletter concerning times and activities.

 

Music can have a positive affect on children, youth, and adults.  It is also a wonderful means by which we worship our Lord.  Please see the groups listed below. There is a place for everyone.

 

Our Bell program consists of Three Groups:

 

Chimes for children in grades 2 – 5

Pat Shrader does a wonderful job teaching these children how to read music by ringing chimes.  We need at least 8 children to have a chime choir, so come and bring a friend on the 11^th to see if they might enjoy this group.  We rehearse from 4:00 to 5:00 on Sunday afternoons.  Please consider our chime program when scheduling your children’s activities!

 

Tintinnabulations

There are some changes for this group this year.  We want to make this into a stronger choir so we are asking all youth and any adults who would like to try ringing bells but may not have a lot of experience to join us.  Since our youth program has been extended, we will now meet from 6:30 to 7:15p.m.on Sunday evenings.  If you are interested but don’t have a musical background, have no fear.  We will teach you how to read and ring!

 

Trinity Belles

Our Blackstone Retreat is scheduled for Friday, September 9 to Saturday, September 10^th.  Please bring your calendars so that we can schedule our times to ring.  We will be learning all the music for festival which will be on November 4^th and 5^th in Raleigh with Fred Gramann.  I will also have a tentative plan for music through December.  We will be leaving Trinity at 4:00 on Friday afternoon.  See you then!

 

If you like to sing, we have choirs for all ages.

 

We encourage all our children from around 3 years old - kindergarten to participate in Cherubs.  We learn songs, listen to Bible stories, have a craft time, and eat dinner together.  We meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Parents and Grandparents are welcome.  A few extra hands are appreciated with this group.  Please join us and bring a friend from school or your neighborhood. 

 

 Choral Groups:

 

Angel Choir and Treble Clefs (Grades 1-5)

These choirs work on the same material, but meet at different times.  This gives the parents an option to come at 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays for Angels or 5:00 – 6:00 on Sunday afternoons for Treble Clefs.  Dinner is served only on Wednesday nights.  Both choirs learn songs, some music reading, sing in our worship service, and perform a musical play in December and in June.  This year’s musical will be on December 18^th at 7:00 p.m.  Come and join the fun in learning “Dude You Hear What I Hear?”

 

Odyssey Choir (Grades 6-12)

Music has already arrived for Youth Jam!! We will be learning songs to sing with other youth in the area on November 18-19 at Reveille UMC in Richmond, Virginia with Erin Freeman as director.  This experience is one that you will never forget.  We will also be learning the script for our fall play to be presented at the Thanksgiving dinner on November 20^th.  We will be presenting a version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.  All teens join us on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. for the fun and learning!

 

Trinity Chancel Choir

All who enjoy singing are welcome to join this great group of people.  This includes high school and college students as well.  We learn a variety of styles of music and will soon begin our Advent and Christmas music.  We are all ages and meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.  If needed, we can provide a nursery.  Our “Back to Choir Night” will be September 7^th.  We will have a short rehearsal and then a time of fellowship and sharing.  Please bring a snack to share!  Bring a neighbor or friend and let’s fill the choir loft this year!

 

Trinity Men’s Chorus

We will begin our rehearsal at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 14^th.  I am looking forward to hearing this group sing again.  We sing in 4 part harmony and if you like to sing, we will fine a part for you!!! Join us on the 14^th at 7:00 p.m.

 

I am grateful to the UMW for their continued help with dinner for the children on Wednesday evenings.  The parents of the Cherubs and Angels will be providing dinner on the 2^nd Wednesday of each month, but the other dinners will be provided by the UMW.  Thanks ladies for your love and support!

 

Annabelle and Haley Rasmussen and Pat would like to thank all who contributed to the music camp fund.  It was an awesome week of music and worship with great clinicians and speakers.  The girls had a wonderful experience with the harp teacher from New York and with other clinicians. They made new friends and had a great time.  Annabelle loved the “zip line” experience!  We would like to go back next year with more Trinity Youth!!!  Thanks again to everyone who made this possible.
