 Senior Pastor

Dr. Sam Boyd accepted the call to be the next Senior Pastor of FHBC on April 15, 2007 and began his pastorate here on June 3, 2007.  Sam is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX where he earned a Master of Divinity degree, a Master of Religious Education degree, and a Doctor of Ministry degree.  Sam has pastored churches in Illinois, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

Sam and his wife, Carolyn, are the proud parents of three girls: Whitney Lloyd and husband Jeremy of Pensacola, FL; Lindsey Gorin and husband John of Hunstville, AL; and Britney Moore and husband Matt, of Greenville, SC.  They are also the  proud grandparents of Isabella Lloyd.

Associate Pastor of Music & Worship

Wayne Causey has served on staff since November 1, 1994. He and his wife, Carrie, are the parents of Andrew and Emily Causey and Joanna and Nathan Michael and grandparents to and grandparents to Eden Causey and Ayla Michael.  Wayne received his Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University, Deland, FL and his Master of Church Music/Music Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Associate Pastor of Education & Activities

Todd Young has served on staff since April 1, 1998. Todd and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Sadie and Macy. Todd graduated from Samford University with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a Church Recreation Major. He received his Master of Arts Degree from the School of Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Associate Pastor of Administration

Dr. Larry Ware joined our staff on September 1, 2006. He and his wife, Donna, have one daughter, Natalie Lundstrom, who lives in Denver, CO with her husband, Nathan and sons, Jack and Wade. Larry graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a B.A. degree and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with Master of Religious Education and Doctor of Education degrees. Larry worked at LifeWay Christian Resources for 27 years, taught at Southwest Baptist University, and served on church staff in Texas.

Minister to Children

 

Don Green joined the staff on January 1, 2010.  Don has a B.S. degree from Dallas Baptist University and a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Don previously served on staff at Lake Point Baptist Church in Rowlet, TX, First Baptist Church in Rockwall, TX, and most recently as Minister of Children at First Baptist Church, Allen, TX.  Don and his wife, Cheri, are parents to Joseph and Andrew.

Minister to Preschoolers

BJ Linam joined the ministerial staff on September 18, 2008. BJ and her husband, Dale, have two sons: Bill, a student at Howard Payne University in TX, and Bradley, a student at the University of North Texas.  BJ has a BA in Sociology from the University of Central Arkansas and a MA in Church and Community Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She previously served as Children’s Minister at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Austin, TX, for 8 years and prior to that was on staff at two other Texas churches for a total of 12 years.

Pastoral Counseling Minister

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Barney Self joined the staff on July 1, 2008. He has a Doctor of Education degree in psychology and counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), a Master of Religious Education degree from NOBTS, and a MBA and BBA from Baylor University. Barney worked at LifeWay Christian Resources for eight years as LeaderCare Counselor through which he counseled ministers and their families. He spent four years as Clinical Director of Christian Counseling Services in Nashville and has maintained a private practice in marriage and family therapy for the last 24 years.

Barney and his wife, Cathy, have been members of FHBC since August 2007. They have two grown children and three grandchildren.

Dr. Self leads a monthly Caregivers Support group on Sunday evenings at the church and continues to teach the Newlywed/Nearly Wed Sunday School class.

Nathan Parker joined our staff on August 4, 2010.  He grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High in 2000.  Nathan graduated from Belmont University with a B.A. in Religion with a minor in Youth Ministry and Church Recreation.  He then started his seminary training at Beeson Divinity Schoo at Samford University.  Nathan has served as intern at Brook Hollow Baptist Church, Immanuel Baptist Church and First Baptist, Nashville.  He has also served as a Program Assistant in the Student Events Department at LifeWay and as led worship and Bible study at Crosspoint Camps.  Most recently Nathan served on staff as Minister with Youth at Brookwood Baptist Church in Birmingham.
 
Nathan and his wife Morgan have a one year old son, Jude.

Minister to Middle School Students

Stephen Sargent joined our staff on May 5, 2010.  He grew up in Franklin, Tennessee, where his parents live now.  He has two older brothers, Matthew and David.  Stephen graduated from Belmont University in December of 2009 with a B.A. in Video Production and a Youth Ministry minor.  He has served on staff at Christ Church and Woodbine Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
