Senior Pastor Jeff & Kathy Hines

Jeff was born in Florida, and his wife, Kathy, is a native of Seattle, Washington.  They met as teens in a Sunday school class in the church where his dad served as pastor.  Pastor Jeff and Kathy have been married for 32 years.  Their family consists of two adult sons who live in the Atlanta area and one wonderful grandson, Aden.

His call to pastoral ministry came in 1983 while he was serving in the United States Coast Guard as a Lay Chaplain aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Lipan.  He attributes his call to ministry as a result of finding Christ as his personal Savior and Sanctifier and his willingness to allow God's grace and will to grow in his life.  From 1990 to 1993, Pastor Jeff and Kathy attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado, where he graduated with a degree in Pastoral Ministry.  Since his ordination as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 1994, Pastor Jeff and Kathy have served churches in Kansas and Georgia.  They were warmly welcomed to Sharpsburg Church of the Nazarene on July 1, 2001.

Pastor Hines preaches that through Christ's sacrificial death, provision is made for our salvation and right relationship with God.  His sermons illustrate that God provides the means and way for us to live in power and righteousness for the purpose of fulfilling His daily and ultimate plan for our lives.

Pastor Jeff and Kathy invite you to worship with us at any of our weekly services.  They are always willing and able to greet you with a smile when you walk through our doors.

Children's Pastor Barbara and Tom Nichols

Pastor Barbara is the first of three children born to Harry and Joan Strickland in Charleston, West Virginia. She gave her life to Jesus when she was 12 years old, and attended new Light Baptist and Hurricane Baptist Churches as a child. After marrying Thomas Nichols, she attended non-denominational Reamer Gospel Tabernacle Church, where she was a member for approximately 25 years. The Lord led her to Clendenin Church of the Nazarene in 2005, where she served as Associate Pastor, as well as Children’s Ministries Director and Pastor of Children’s Church. She attended the West Virginia South District School of Ministries/Alliance Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was ordained as a Nazarene Minister in August 2010.  Barbara also has an Associates Business Degree from Charleston University in Charleston, West Virginia.

Pastor Barbara believes in teaching and preaching the Word of God. More importantly, she believes we must live the Word.  It is also her belief that it is crucial to reach children with the Word in order to influence them in considering making a decision to follow Christ; Barna Research Group surveys indicate that American children ages 5 to 13 have a 32% probability of accepting Christ, while youth or teens aged 14 to 18 have only a 4% probability of doing so. Pastor Barbara stresses the importance of children attending Sunday School, as well as Children’s Church and Wednesday night children’s services.

Pastor Barbara and her husband, Thomas Nichols, were joined in holy matrimony on November 17, 1970. Tom spent the first half of his life working in the oil industry and the latter part working as the lead maintenance man in a highrise for the elderly.  He is presently enjoying his retirement. He has a strong commitment to reading his Bible every day and spends time daily in prayer. Pastor Barbara and Tom have been blessed with daughter Erica and son TJ, who have extended that blessing by giving them three granddaughters and two grandsons.

As Pastor of Children’s Ministries, Pastor Barbara is looking forward to working with the children in the Sharpsburg First Church of the Nazarene, and occasionally preaching as needed.
