Missions
We have partnered with Tytoo Gardens for many years to help bring hope, healing and renewal to Haiti. We will continue to partner with Tytoo Gardens, and MCC (Mennonite Central Committee), and a Widows and Orphans ministry in Kenya.
Tytoo Gardens Orphanage: Simonette, Haiti- Many members of our congregation have gone to Haiti on short term mission work, doing construction, medical, and after the earthquake rebuilding.
As a result of our ongoing ministry there, we have been supporting this small orphanage in Simonette with monetary needs for the orphans and the orphanage. We have an Annual “Ride, Run, Walk for Tytoo" each fall and a member of our congregation does metal recycling with the proceeds going to the orphanage.
MCC (Mennonite Central Committee): An organization that does relief, development and peace in the name of Christ.
We send money directly to MCC and indirectly through the Canadian Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church for Disaster Relief and World Hunger Relief. We also pack hygiene kits, school kits and relief kits each year for MCC and deliver them to their headquarters in Kitchener. The past 2 years a good number or these kits have been directed to refugee camps in the Middle East.
Other local ministries that The Dwelling Place supports are the following:
Jarvis Caring Cupboard, (a local food bank) by donating bags of food throughout the year. One of our members is on the board and makes us aware of current needs.
Haldimand Pregnancy Centre, each May we run a Baby Bottle Campaign, baby bottles are filled with change and donations made to provide for the needs of the Centre.
Adopt a Family, a ministry through our missions committee where we support with grocery gift cards, financial helps for pressing needs, and sometimes repairs or other social assistance to people in our local community.
